SOCAR opens next-generation motorway service area on the A3
Modern mobility at Herrlisberg Süd: refuelling and recharging under one roof
SOCAR Energy Switzerland today officially opens its newly built Herrlisberg Süd mobility hub on Switzerland’s A3 motorway. The service area combines conventional filling-station services with state-of-the-art charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, a migrolino shop and a Burger King restaurant. In doing so, it sets new standards on several fronts: as an innovative mobility hub, a showcase for sustainable construction and a tangible contribution to electric mobility in both passenger and heavy-duty transport.
Recharging as conveniently as refuelling – sheltered from the weather
A defining feature of Herrlisberg Süd is the integration of its fast-charging points directly beneath the filling-station canopy. Drivers of electric vehicles can therefore recharge under cover and enjoy the same level of convenience as drivers of vehicles with combustion engines. The concept brings conventional and electric mobility together in a way that is both visible and seamless.
In addition to fast-charging infrastructure for electric passenger cars, the site also provides dedicated charging bays for electric trucks. Herrlisberg Süd thus represents another important step in the expansion of electric mobility in heavy-duty transport – an area in which SOCAR is already one of Switzerland’s most experienced operators.
Services at a glance
The new Herrlisberg Süd site offers travellers on the A3 a comprehensive range of mobility and convenience services:
- SOCAR filling station offering SOCAR’s conventional fuels as well as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a renewable or synthetic diesel produced from biogenic residues and plant material
- Fast-charging infrastructure for electric passenger cars, integrated directly beneath the filling-station canopy
- Fast-charging infrastructure for electric trucks, with dedicated charging bays for heavy-duty vehicles
- migrolino shop for everyday essentials
- Burger King restaurant, operated by Marché
Swiss expertise: timber-element construction by ERNE AG Holzbau
The building was constructed using an innovative timber-element system. Its components were prefabricated by Swiss company ERNE AG Holzbau and then assembled on site. This efficient construction method delivers a high degree of quality and precision while drawing on Swiss expertise.
