Groupe E and SOCAR promote ultra-fast charging

Groupe E and SOCAR have teamed up to promote new ultra-fast charging stations. The jointly installed charging stations perform significantly better than conventional electric charging stations and make it possible to simultaneously charge two electric vehicles within 30 minutes. The first such charging station will be launched today in Bursins in the canton of Vaud and attended by Edgar Bachmann, CEO of SOCAR Energy Switzerland, and Stéphane Rosset, Business Developer E-Mobility at Groupe E.

Today, Groupe E and SOCAR are launching a charging station at the SOCAR petrol station in Bursins in the canton of Vaud. With a charging capacity of 50 kilowatts, the station allows two electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously within 30 minutes. Thanks to various plug types, vehicles can be connected via a CCS, CHAdeMO or Type 2 cable, allowing every type of electric vehicle to be charged at the station, regardless of the manufacturer.

The new charging station conforms to the EVite standard, a project developed under the auspices of Swiss eMobility and financed by private companies. EVite makes electric charging possible around the clock, both quickly and easily, and thus closes a major gap on the path to achieving success in electromobility. Groupe E and SOCAR are members of Swiss eMobility and have committed to installing multiple EVite charging points. Five additional potential locations are currently being considered. The new charging station is also compatible with the MOVE system, a network of charging stations developed by Groupe E and its many partners. The charging station can be activated using an access card, a telephone hotline or via an SMS payment system. The station is the first public charging station that fulfils standards set by both EVite and MOVE.

“Electromobility offers an opportunity to sustainably develop the entire Swiss transportation system on an economic, social and environmental level. The enterprise demonstrates SOCAR’s openness to new mobility concepts,” explains Edgar Bachmann. “Groupe E immediately found its place among the players in electromobility under the Swiss eMobility umbrella. We are pleased to collaborate with SOCAR on providing a real alternative to conventional vehicles,” adds Stéphane Rosset.
